Course Information
18-669D: Special Topics in Integrated Systems Technology: Hacker Fab
Units:
12Description:
This course is an opportunity to join the Hacker Fab, which aims to build the first open source semiconductor fab. We will start the semester with an empty room and boxes of equipment, and finish with a facility capable of making transistors. Along the way we will design, build and document a photolithography stepper and a spin coater. There are minimal lectures and no homework or exams; instead, class time will be spent working with other students on projects. This course is suitable for self-motivated students looking for a hands-on interdisciplinary engineering experience while starting something big. No experience in analog devices or semiconductor fabrication is required.
