Description:

This course focuses on IoT principles, practice and solutions in the context of emerging enterprise solutions in a number of sectors in the developing world, including industry, healthcare, energy, agriculture, transportation and other critical infrastructures. Essential elements of IoT systems are covered through a hierarchical framework, starting from smart devices, to networking, data acquisition and storage, data analytics, and application software. At all levels of the hierarchy, current industry standards will be reviewed that can be exploited in the implementation of enterprise IoT solutions. Students will develop device-level demonstrations in the laboratory in conjunction with proposals for new enterprise IoT solutions in chosen application domains. Students should be familiar with embedded systems programming and basic networking concepts.
